What is information?

An example of Information
Let us continue with our example about this course. How do we turn that into information?
What if we find out:
- You log in every day to complete the course
- You did super well on the quizzes
That is Information about:
- How well you understand the course
- How engaged you are in the course
We would need to gather more data about you, then start making connections. By connecting the dots using data, we are obtaining more useful information that will lead us to the next stage – knowledge.

What is knowledge

As discussed in the video, knowledge is the know-how or insight that you get from information.
Let us continue with our example of you taking this course:
So we reached the conclusion that you are logging in every day.
This information can help us find new information which can lead to knowledge.
We can perhaps ask
- if you are enjoying the course
- if you find the course valuable.
That helps usdetermine if the course is useful to you (knowledge), which will help us consider how we can improve on it going forward.

Dystopia needs you
Data, information and knowledge
As an agent of LM13, you are tasked with the goal of gathering data about the city of Dystopia.
This city is broken up into 11 districts which up till now have been all managed by different governing bodies.
Therefore, it is our duty to collect all the data there is about the different districts and compile it all in a single data warehouse for ease of access.

For now, we have a general map of the different districts. We shall collect data about each of the districts, compile it and make sure it’s clean and useful.
