We are going to be using an example client – the Green Earth Fund – to demonstrate this course and building a website. But if you are joining the #TechWaysWebProject – you will be matched with your own real NGO client.
Every lesson will take you through the steps necessary to build a website in WordPress for your client.
You are working as an intern for the TechWays web development team. You will receive a proposal from a client.
The proposal will provide you with the purpose of the website. Also, the requirements desired by the client.
The Green Earth Fund (GEF). They are concerned with the effects of climate change on the environment. They believe it is the most important issue facing the human race.
They combat climate change by planting trees and funding technologies that reduce the use of fossil fuels in society. For example, buying solar panels for homes in the townships.
If you’re part of the #TechWaysWebProject – your client will be a real NGO or charity. If you’re only doing this course (and not part of #TechWaysWebProject) – then you’ll be working with the Green Earth Fund as part of a simulated real-client scenario.
A dramatic climate disaster has fallen upon certain regions of Southern Africa. A massive flood has drowned the city of Johannesburg with many people residing on rooftops to escape the flooded streets.
Meanwhile, in Namibia a scorching drought has ravaged its farmlands. These two crises have led to food shortages in the region. Many people are dying.
The GEF wants to create a website to raise awareness and funding for these issues. The funding will be used to provide aid to these affected communities.
The website should effectively communicate the mission of the GEF and provide a means for donating money on the website.
