IEB-TechWays AI Hackathon : 2026
This is a unique opportunity for all learners wanting to learn about AI to showcase their problem-solving skills. Teams of 2-4 learners will have the chance to tackle social issues, while learning about the power of artificial intelligence.
- Date: Wednesday 20 May 2026, 8-4pm
- Where: your nearest participating school
- Fee: R350/learner
- Prizes: for Top 1st, 2nd, 3rd teams

2025 Highlights
1000+ Grade 6-12 students from 70+ schools across South Africa participated in the 2025 IEB-TechWays AI Hackathon, that took place on 21 May 2025.
These young innovators used AI to tackle real-world problems in education, the environment and safety to support South Africa’s National Development Plan 2030.
